It seems all you need to do is wave a few bills under the nose of the NSW State Government and it will roll over and give you anything you want.
A massive new coal mine planned for the outskirts of Sydney has a raft of Aboriginal rock art sites and a network of fragile swamps and waterways in its sights. The waterways feed the Georges River, which flows through southern Sydney.
Of course Aborigines and environmentalists are already speaking out, but the fact that it’s even being considered, and that the government frequently issues ‘permits to destroy’ (!), doesn’t bode well for the area.
